See module descriptions attached This supervisory development Programme is made up of a number of Modules. Participants attend a one-day training workshop for each module. The programme has been designed and structured to suit the needs of all Supervisors – regardless of where they work. Each module in this programme is a self-standing training course. The overall aims of the Supervisory Skills Programme are as follows:
To enable participants to grasp the full extent of the supervisory job so as to be able to integrate technical know-how, administrative skills and people-management skills.
Because of their everyday and intimate contact with employees, supervisors need to acquire specialized interpersonal skills and understanding of workplace team dynamics and how to build effective teams, communication skills and how to create a climate that promotes motivation.
To apply knowledge of job requirements to the training and development of team members, making use of techniques such as on-job training, coaching and counselling.
To practise fair supervision in dealing with complaints and grievances and taking positive corrective action in line with company policies and procedures.
The following modules make up the total Supervisory Development programme: Module 1: Introduction to supervision. Module 2: Effective Communication. Module 3: Motivating your staff.
